Graphene Material is Paper-Thin and stronger then steel

Researchers at the University of Technology Sydney have created a new material that is lighter, less dense, harder, and stronger than steel. But this material is not one of those breakthroughs that only sounds good on paper. It is paper, and it could be a game-changer for materials science if it can live up to researchers’ hopes.
This graphene paper is constructed of graphite reformed by chemical processes into monolayer hexagonal carbon lattices stacked as thin as a sheet of paper, and it is remarkably strong.Compared to steel, the prepared GP is six times lighter, five to six times lower density, two times harderperhaps best of all, graphene paper not outrageously difficult or expensive to manufacture, and as such it could have huge implications for the aviation and automotive industries, where manufacturers have already been turning to composites and carbon fiber materials to cut weight and thus increase fuel economies.

Superhydrophobic Fabric

Scientists at the not-suspiciously-named-at-all Northeast Normal University in China have devolved a new material that is not only waterproof but is resistant to UV rays as well. The scientists coated the cotton fabric base with zinc oxide nano rods as well as zinc oxide crystallites. This fabric offers a protection UPF 50 from UV rays and up, which is considered "ultimate UV protection"--it lets in less than two percent of UV rays. A UPF of 101.15 lets in less than a single percent, which would qualify for "excessive" protection if that level existed. The scientists are optimistic that this kind of fabric modification could become widespread.

Do Now 4/11/11

1) I think a pod cast is a feed that can be viewed online and on a mobile device such as an ipod.
2) People create pod casts so their information can be viewed on the go. So that they don't have to be home to listen to what they need to.
3) I currently have no experience in making a pod-cast
4) Tools that can help me make a pod cast are audacity and i-Tunes
5) I would like to make a podcast about Wood-Ridge High SAchool

Tech Article 4/6/11

This bright idea called the RE-35 digital cartage could allow anybody with a 35mm camera to take digital photos. Since the idea arose during April fools it is still being considered that this can be a joke. It has a pull-out “sensor” that captures the images and saves them to flash memory within the cartridge. When plugged in to a computer, the cartridge charges and transfers images with built-in software. The one problem is that it would have to be hooked up to the cameras shutter so it would know when to store an immage
